About Me

I grew up in Boulder, Colorado, and am very happy to now be based in Philadelphia, a city I've fallen in love with over the last four (very interesting) years. In my time attending college, I've discovered so much about myself as an artist; I know how much I absolutely love working on new -- or new to most -- works of theatre, how much I enjoy authentic movement and dance, and like so many of us have I've learned how to find the love in my craft even when it's difficult or inaccessible to do so. My joy in theatre comes from harnessing my (sometimes too big) feelings and using them to make empathetic art, that's enjoyable for anybody and that we all can take inspiration from. Being able to relate to the art we consume is of endless importance, so as creators it is vital to tell stories that may too often go unheard.

Growing up as a black multiracial girl in my 80% white hometown, I never really fit in; I spent more time and energy than I should've trying to be like the people around me, because at that point being “normal” seemed like the ultimate goal (obviously, that was never gonna happen). I found happiness, and a way to truly express myself, in music and theatre; I still was different than everyone else, but this art showed me how my differences making me stand out was a good thing. Of course that wasn't everything I gained from that time, I was lucky to receive a thorough artistic education that allowed me to get to this place today (I’ll always be thankful for the sightreading and theory skills I learned in my high school jazz choir). It wasn’t all positive experiences (I was still the WOC in predominantly white spaces after all), so reflecting back on my artistic upbringing makes it obvious just how important it is for us as creators to open up our awareness and listen to what the misunderstood have to say. I want to use my natural empathy and adaptability as a performer to tell genuine (while still sometimes ridiculous!) human stories.

My intention as an actor is to tell stories that matter; to be a part of the media that engages those who consume it, collaborating with diverse, ambitious artists to create in a way that not only entertains but inspires hope and change. Now more than ever it is incredibly important for our art to reflect what we want out of our lives, so I am committed to use my artistry to promote positive action by participating in projects that lift up both the artists and audience. My purpose as a theatre artist is to be a vehicle for feeling, for catharsis; I hope to ignite joy in the recognition of the human experience.
